private land hunting regulations

The skeet fields have eight shooting stations, two traphouses, and one center target. Seven shooting stations are arranged in a half-moon between the two trap houses, and one is located directly between the two. The high house targets are thrown 10 feet above the ground and rise to 15 feet in the middle of the field. The trap 3 1/2 feet above the ground is where the low house targets can be thrown and rise up to 15 ft.

Skeet field structure

A skeetround is comprised of 25 targets. These targets are shot from eight stations. There are seven targets on each side, and one at the base. The skeetfield is divided into 2 sections. The high house and the lowest house correspond to the relative locations for the target throwing machines. One section is usually called the high house and the other, the low house. From the beginning point to the final target, the shooting stations of a skeetround vary in length, width and height.

Skeet targets

There are eight shooting stations on the skeet field, as well as two trap houses and an elevated target. The traphouse on the left, known as the high, throws the clay target 10 feet from the ground. It does this from an slightly upward angle. The low trap house, on the other hand, throws the clay target from a height 3 feet. This angle is steeper than that of high house. The ideal skeet field should be at least eighty feet in length and forty-five foot wide.

Skeet targets sequences

The International Skeet fields are identical in dimensions to the American Skeet fields, however the targets are larger and are thrown more quickly. The target is delayed by 0-3 seconds and shooters have to use a low gun position to hit the targets. Since 1968, the International Skeet was an Olympic sport. The shooting sequences can be modified to suit different skeet fields.

Skeet choke for face-huggers

The image below has dotted lines that indicate the original circle a Skeet used for its design. Even though the original circle is still in use, the face-hugger has to be wide open in order for it to work. Although this choke is easy to break, it's not an ideal weapon for beginners. It requires an improved cylinder choke. Click the link for more information.

Lead is required to break a target skeet

There are several methods that can be used to determine the required amount of lead to break a skeet. The first, called sustained lead. This involves keeping your muzzle pointing at the target while you shoot. This method works best when you know how far you will be shooting. You can also use the constant lead setting but this will not work well if you are shooting on a Skeet range.

After firing the shot, keep moving the gun

While practicing the art, aim with your finger on a gun's frame. You should not place your shooting finger on the trigger when you prepare to fire the gun. The gun's bottom frame is what the gun is made of. To fire the gun, it is essential that your thumb rests against the frame. Once you are ready for firing, wrap your thumb and index finger around the frame.
