About 110 people in America are gun-related deaths each day. New York City alone has 870 gun-related death each year. In the US, more than 10,000 hate crimes are committed each year using guns. Although these numbers may seem alarming, gun violence is common in all American towns. In many cases, the gun lobby and politicians have been fighting to prevent change for too long, preventing any common sense measures to curb the problem.

Everytown's Community Safety Fund

In the next few years, the Community Safety Fund will increase funding for community programs against gun violence by doubling its current level. The Community Safety Fund will double the amount of funding available for community gun violence programs by 2021. Initial grants will be made to two types of grants: sustainer grants and long-term support grants. These grants support peer engagement and building capacity. To combat the epidemic, the Everytown Foundation made the commitment of reducing gun violence in the community.

Everytown's non-profit affiliate, 501(c),(4), spends money on unrelated expenditures. They spend the majority of their money supporting Democratic candidates. They spent $195,769 for Democratic candidates in the most recent midterm elections. Everytown only gave money to five Republicans. Former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg pledged $50 million for the organization's anti gun campaigns.
